Legal Counsel – Maritime Solutions (Dubai)

About the role

Based at DP World Maritime Solutions corporate office in Dubai, the Legal Counsel provides comprehensive legal support across all business activities, focusing on transactional shipping matters such as charter parties, vessel acquisitions, financing, and regulatory compliance. The role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel and works closely with Offshore, Port Services and MCV/Cargo divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support for chartering activities, including cross‑charters, bareboat, time and voyage charters, heavy‑lift/project cargo contracts, tendering, charter party reviews and spot tug operations.
• Prepare, review and negotiate charter party contracts, vessel acquisition and disposal agreements, addressing tax and insurance considerations.
• Contribute legal material to tenders and bid proposals, drafting NDAs, LOIs and MOUs.
• Draft and review shipbuilding contracts and financial/loan agreements, ensuring compliance with loan covenants.
• Assist in drafting joint‑venture, collaboration and alliance agreements.
• Review general contracts (IT, procurement, labour) and support maritime insurance claims with brokers and underwriters.
• Identify tax implications of business activities, implement appropriate structures and incorporate transfer‑pricing principles in intra‑group agreements.
• Evaluate the need for external counsel, prepare briefing materials and manage external legal service engagements.
• Draft and revise company standard agreements and internal control procedures.

Required profile

• Based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
• Reports directly to the Senior Legal Counsel.
• Experience in maritime and shipping law, with exposure to charter parties and vessel transactions.
