Legal Counsel – Retail Banking (Emirati Only)

About the role

Join Mashreq’s Legal team as a Legal Counsel focused on Retail Banking. You will provide prompt, effective legal assistance, draft clear advice and documentation, and manage multiple queries while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on retail banking products such as deposits, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, payments and money transfers.
• Draft, review and negotiate facility offer letters, terms and conditions, amendments and renewal letters.
• Address queries from branch offices, ensuring advice aligns with bank policies, applicable laws and regulations.
• Review customer documents to verify capacity and authority (e.g., POA, board resolutions, commercial licences).
• Participate in product development meetings, offering legal input on operational strategies.
• Monitor and interpret legal developments affecting retail banking and help mitigate related risks.
• Support legal projects including documentation standardisation and digital banking initiatives.
• Maintain organised records of legal matters using internal tools such as App4Legal.

Required profile

• Emirati national with a Law degree.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification legal experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Proficiency in legal research and document‑management tools.
• Ability to handle high‑volume workloads, work collaboratively and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Demonstrated responsibility, time‑management and a proactive work attitude.
