Manager - Heavy Section Mill

About the role

This position is a senior management role leading the Rolling/Finishing processes of a Heavy Section Mill. The manager plans objectives, manages budgets and maintenance, supports the HSM Assistant Manager, and leads the department's performance, safety, quality and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the department by setting and achieving objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisals.
• Prepare and manage annual budgets and cost management, and support the Assistant Manager with OPEX/CAPEX budgets.
• Support business development, strategic planning, asset management, maintenance and shutdown strategies, and the use of resources within the defined organization structure.
• Ensure safety in all processes, develop a safety culture, create work instructions, carry out risk assessments and follow QA procedures.
• Direct planning, resource allocation and process controls in the Rolling Processes, and coordinate with suppliers and external agencies.
• Resolve critical technical and production problems personally to minimize downtime, and lead technical development of equipment and processes.
• Apply a robust quality management system and maintain ISO9001/14001/18001 compliance.
• Help the Assistant Manager with maintenance planning, predictive and preventive maintenance, capital planning, and the review of physical assets.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental policies and oversee operational policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or Management.
• 10-15 years of experience in Medium/Heavy Section Mills.
• 5-10 years in a senior management role in Medium/Heavy Section Mills.
• Familiarity with projects and plant start-ups.
• Strong engineering experience in Rolling Mills.
