Materials Manager for Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The Materials Manager will oversee planning, procurement, control and delivery of all materials required for infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, drainage and earthworks. The role ensures timely, on‑spec delivery while minimizing waste, idle stock and supply‑chain risk.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare material requirement schedules from BOQs, drawings, specifications and the project programme.
• Forecast quantities and delivery timelines for bulk materials (aggregates, asphalt, ready‑mix concrete, rebar, pipes, precast elements, cables, ducts and road furniture).
• Coordinate material planning with construction programmes and work closely with Planning and Project teams.
• Source, evaluate and approve suppliers and subcontractors in partnership with Procurement.
• Raise and track material requests, purchase orders and delivery schedules, monitoring supplier performance and resolving delays or quality issues.
• Manage site stores, yards and lay‑down areas, maintaining accurate stock records and implementing controls on receipt, issue, transfer and returns.
• Plan logistics for heavy and bulk deliveries, including access permits and traffic coordination.
• Track material costs against budget, reconcile consumption with work progress and lead storekeepers, material coordinators and logistics staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field.
• 10+ years in material management, procurement or supply chain within construction, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience on infrastructure projects in the UAE (roads, bridges, utilities, drainage, sewerage or site infrastructure).
• Strong understanding of BOQs, specifications, drawings and material take‑offs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP or inventory systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management and cost‑control abilities.
