Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist will lead the design, integration, and validation of critical mechanical systems for UAV platforms, including landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics, and actuation mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical, and thermal analyses to verify system integrity under operational loads.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and bills of materials (BOMs) in line with aerospace standards.
• Support prototype builds, ground tests, and flight trials, troubleshooting design issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defense quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of aerospace mechanical systems design experience.
• Proven expertise in at least three areas: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, or actuation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools: CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks.
• Experience with PLM systems and GD&T.
• Knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis tools.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as AS9100, MIL‑STD, DO‑160.
• Exposure to EASA Part 21, GCAA Design Organisation Approval, INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, PMP/PRINCE2 certifications.
