Medical Transcriptionist – Health Information Management

About the role

The Medical Transcriptionist will convert dictated clinical information into accurate, clear text to support patient care documentation. You will work closely with physicians and healthcare staff to ensure timely and precise medical records.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe a wide range of medical reports, including discharge summaries, operative reports, cardiology, EEG, pathology, and progress notes.
• Apply extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and laboratory values to produce accurate transcripts.
• Clarify unclear or incomplete dictations by consulting electronic medical records, laboratory results, and healthcare providers.
• Upload completed reports to the electronic medical record (EMR) system for physician review and electronic authentication.
• Operate and troubleshoot word‑processing, dictation, and transcription equipment.
• Ensure correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and proper patient identification in all documents.
• Identify and edit inconsistencies without altering the originator’s style, and report unusual circumstances or errors to senior staff.
• Maintain deficiency‑tracking modules and eliminate duplicate entries.

Required profile

• Strong command of English language rules and medical documentation standards.
• Ability to interpret various accents, dialects, and dictation styles.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy in transcription and proofreading.
• Proficiency in using EMR systems and reference materials.
• Effective communication with physicians, nursing units, and ancillary departments.
