Pavement Engineer – Aviation (Sharjah)

About the role

We are seeking a Pavement Engineer with aviation experience to design, evaluate, and manage heavy‑duty runway and taxiway pavements in Sharjah. The role combines technical design, field testing, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and durable airfield surfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural design for flexible, rigid, and composite pavements using load modeling and international standards.
• Conduct condition surveys, non‑destructive testing (NDT), and load‑bearing assessments to calculate Classification Number ratings.
• Select and specify high‑performance asphalt mixes, concrete mixes, subgrade stabilization, and base course layers suitable for heavy aircraft loads and local climate.
• Ensure all designs and rehabilitation strategies comply with aviation regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with geotechnical, drainage, and lighting teams to integrate pavement works with continuous airport operations.
• Monitor construction activities, review contractor material submittals, and inspect paving execution for quality and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s in Geotechnical or Pavement Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of civil infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years focused on pavement design, evaluation, and construction.
• Previous exposure to aviation‑related projects is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with specialized pavement analysis software.
• Experience in non‑destructive testing (NDT) and load modeling.
• Strong knowledge of flexible and rigid pavement structures, asphalt and concrete mix design, and subgrade stabilization.
