Pharmacist

About the role

Royal Karama Pharmacy in Abu Dhabi is looking for a licensed pharmacist to manage and supervise its pharmacy during working hours. The pharmacist works largely independently, is held legally responsible for due care in dispensing, and may work on shifts and be on call for emergencies. A senior pharmacist is available for advice on difficult cases.

Key responsibilities

• Select, procure, store, distribute and dispense medicines, and document all activities
• Check prescriptions, clarify doubts with physicians and insurers, counsel patients and dispense medication
• Dispense controlled and semi-controlled drugs and register them according to DOH rules; ensure double-checking before dispensing
• Handle spontaneous dispensing of some medications and report medication errors or safety risks
• Train and supervise new and junior staff, and act as assistant chief pharmacist in the chief's absence
• Take part in quality activities, advise physicians on substitutes and help control drug use
• Ensure compliance with medical regulations, infection control, patient safety and patient care policies, and with pharmacy laws and circulars

Required profile

• Valid DOH license or passing result as Pharmacist to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE
• Bachelor's or master's degree in pharmacy
• 5-8 years of experience in an acute care facility
• Current and valid license to practice as a pharmacist in the home country
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic
• Thorough knowledge of medical ethics
