Regional / Centre Director - Middle East Business Development

About the role

An overseas NGO that provides consultancy services to businesses wanting to develop in the region has a vacancy for a Regional / Centre Director based in its Dubai office. The role covers Middle East operations and is responsible for creating and developing a strategy in line with the corporate vision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in-market expertise to help companies expand in the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and other MENA countries
• Navigate the local regulatory environment and develop opportunities across different sectors
• Monitor the business environment and give companies up-to-date market intelligence
• Build strategic contacts and partnerships to generate leads and match businesses across sectors
• Secure revenue through partnerships, programmes and relevant services
• Advise companies on their internationalisation plans
• Develop country market briefs on trends, opportunities, developments and entry strategies for senior management and stakeholders
• Oversee and run events, seminars and business missions to generate qualified leads and networking opportunities
• Manage and develop the local team and office

Required profile

• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in international business development with NGOs, trade commissions, chambers of commerce or business councils
• Extensive local contacts with private companies, chambers, associations and government (a bonus)
• Knowledge of the industry landscape, business practices and ecosystem
• Ability to handle cross-cultural differences and communicate with stakeholders
• Arabic speaking preferred
• Mix of government/chamber and private sector experience, and programme development experience, advantageous
