Regulatory Counsel

About the role

As Regulatory Counsel, you will report to the Head of Legal and work on a broad range of initiatives, including new product launches, expansion into new markets and ongoing regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with all business functions to advise decision‑making, lead projects, negotiate and draft agreements, and communicate legal issues to both lawyers and non‑lawyers, balancing business and legal perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the legal and regulatory aspects of new product launches and existing product development.
• Work cross‑functionally with product, compliance, finance and information security teams to address day‑to‑day regulatory challenges and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collaborate with the legal team to identify, evaluate and discuss risks, developing creative solutions that align business priorities with a changing regulatory landscape.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to devise actionable solutions for regulatory or licensing matters.
• Lead engagement with regulators and support license applications for new market entries.
• Own ongoing regulatory matters across all live markets.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 5–10 years of experience in payments or other regulated businesses.
• In‑house fintech experience, preferably in a payments environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing financial products and services.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and own projects in a fast‑growing business.
• Extra points for experience in APAC markets (not required).
• Outgoing personality, execution‑oriented, mission‑driven, organized and driven.
