Research Assistant – Evolutionary Genomics of Adaptation

About the role

NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Kawader Research Assistant Fellow to support the Evolutionary Genomics of Adaptation project, which investigates the genetic basis of vertebrate adaptation to extreme desert environments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct evolutionary and population genomic analyses to identify candidate genes involved in desert adaptation.
• Perform molecular biology procedures such as DNA extraction, electrophoresis, PCR, and preparation of genomic samples.
• Contribute to data processing, computational workflows, and comparative genomic analysis.
• Collaborate with team members and the supervising professor to advance project goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
• Strong interest in evolutionary biology and genomics.
• Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of evolutionary and population genomics concepts.
• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, electrophoresis, PCR).
• Ability to conduct genomic data analysis and comparative genomics.
