Respiratory Therapist – Pediatric

About the role

The Pediatric Respiratory Therapist provides patient‑centered respiratory care and performs basic cardiopulmonary diagnostic tests for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients in accordance with hospital policies and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, quality respiratory care services and basic cardiopulmonary diagnostic tests, including pulmonary function testing and polysomnography.
• Respond to emergencies and perform BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP as required.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments before, during and after procedures and document all findings in the EMR.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain respiratory and monitoring equipment, ensuring infection‑control standards.
• Prepare preliminary test reports and submit them for medical review.
• Participate in multidisciplinary ICU rounds, performance‑improvement projects and end‑of‑shift reviews.

Required profile

• Qualified Respiratory Therapist with experience in pediatric and neonatal care.
• Ability to work independently, assess patients, and communicate critical findings to physicians.
• Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards (JCIA, DHA) and relevant clinical guidelines.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) and Polysomnography (PSG) operation.
• Use of respiratory equipment, bedside spirometer, pulse oximeter, blood‑gas analyzer, cardiac monitors and ventilators.
• Patient education on respiratory procedures and therapies.
