Risk & Underwriting Analyst

About the role

Cigna Global Healthcare Benefits (CGHB) is recruiting an additional Underwriter for its Middle East Underwriting team in Dubai, reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager. The role covers fundamental risk analysis, rate development, pricing and consultative underwriting, and contributes to profitable growth, persistency and earnings.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, price and build insurance plans for SMEs and large corporations in line with organizational and market strategy
• Analyze and price the renewal portfolio, working with sales representatives, brokers and clients to implement rating actions
• Manage the account portfolio, balancing long-term profitability, persistency and growth
• Run analytical reviews to identify trends and patterns that help manage the portfolio
• Work with sales and client management to win and retain business, and with operations and clinical teams to ensure proper use of products
• Keep close contact with finance and actuarial teams on pricing strategies and models
• Investigate non-compliance of benefit adjudication and liaise with managers to ensure compliance
• Give clear, decisive guidance on risk exposure, stay market-aware and provide accurate, timely underwriting metrics to the Underwriting Manager

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a closely related field
• Up to 5 years of working experience
• Proven passion for analytics; knowledge of the health insurance industry is preferable
• Pursuit of professional qualifications or continued development is viewed favorably
