About the role
The Screwman works on asphalt paver machines, controlling the screed to achieve the required width, thickness, level, slope and alignment for road and infrastructure projects. Reporting to the foreman and collaborating with the paver operator, grade checker and surveyor, the role ensures a smooth, uniform pavement that meets project specifications.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and continuously adjust the screed system of the asphalt paver during paving operations.
- Maintain target paving width, thickness, level, slope and alignment throughout the job.
- Monitor material flow and temperature to guarantee a consistent surface.
- Make real‑time screed adjustments based on site conditions and project requirements.
- Assist in basic cleaning and routine maintenance of the screed and related equipment.
- Identify and report any machine or paving issues to the paver operator or foreman.
- Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures on site.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Screwman or Screed Operator on asphalt paver machines.
- Good knowledge of asphalt paving principles, screed adjustment, and surface finishing.
- Experience working on road and infrastructure projects, preferably in the GCC/UAE.
- Ability to cooperate effectively with paver operators, grade checkers, surveyors and site teams.
