Secondary English Teacher – IB Curriculum – August 2027

About the role

GEMS International School, Dubai Hills is seeking experienced secondary English teachers to join its IB‑continuum programme from August 2027. The role involves delivering inquiry‑based English instruction to a diverse, internationally‑mindful student body.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, inquiry‑driven English lessons that foster critical thinking and a love of literature.
• Create an inclusive classroom where all learners feel challenged, supported and empowered.
• Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs and assess student progress using data‑informed methods.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and share best practices.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Contribute to co‑curricular, enrichment and professional‑learning activities.
• Uphold GEMS Education values and the IB Learner Profile.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification at degree level (B.Ed, PGCE, State Teaching License or equivalent) with a specialism in English.
• Minimum three years of successful secondary English teaching experience, preferably within the IB MYP or DP; A‑Level experience is also valued.
• Strong subject knowledge and commitment to inquiry‑based, concept‑driven learning.
• Passion for inspiring confidence, critical thinking and global mindedness in learners.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and classroom‑management skills.
