Senior Finance Manager – Dubai/Kuala Lumpur (Hybrid)

About the role

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) seeks a Senior Finance Manager to lead accounting and financial reporting for its Middle East, Asia‑Pacific, and International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) operations. This hybrid position splits time between the office (3‑4 days) and remote work, supporting SPE’s global mission in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budgets and forecasts for SPE Middle East (Dubai), SPE Asia Pacific (Kuala Lumpur) and IPTC.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and IFRS for each legal entity, handling multi‑currency reporting in AED and MYR.
• Coordinate and manage external audits, conduct balance‑sheet reviews, and report results to the CFO in Dallas.
• Supervise core finance activities: accounts payable/receivable, inventory management, program cost analysis, tax compliance (including VAT filings), and financial forecasting.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to regional finance staff and present financial reports to regional boards.

Required profile

• Senior‑level finance professional with extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting and audit coordination.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and VAT regulations across the Middle East and Asia‑Pacific.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑entity, multi‑currency finance functions and lead geographically dispersed teams.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with senior leadership and board members.
