Senior Lawyer – UAE Operations

About the role

BYD is seeking a pragmatic and detail‑oriented Senior Lawyer to support its expanding operations in the United Arab Emirates. You will work closely with the regional legal team, handling distributor relations, labor compliance, and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Handle legal matters concerning UAE distributors and review commercial agreements to protect company interests.
• Participate in day‑to‑day legal activities and operational management of BYD’s UAE subsidiaries.
• Manage employment contracts and ensure compliance with UAE Labor Law via Qiwa and Mudad platforms.
• Coordinate with external law firms on regulatory issues, focusing on the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and related frameworks.
• Monitor local legislative updates and provide clear interpretations of new policies.

Required profile

• UAE or Saudi legal practicing license (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized Saudi university.
• 2+ years of corporate in‑house or law‑firm experience, preferably in automotive or high‑tech sectors.
• Professional proficiency in English and Arabic for drafting and communication with authorities.
• UAE national or willingness to relocate to the UAE.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of UAE government portals (Qiwa, Mudad).
• Familiarity with UAE and KSA corporate and labor regulations.
• Understanding of Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) compliance.
