Strategy Expert – Energy Sector

About the role

The Strategy Expert supports the Chairman of the Department of Energy in advancing the energy sector in Abu Dhabi in line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision, contributing to the emirate's economic, environmental and social sustainability. The role works within the Transformation Management Office.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of sector strategies through initiatives aligned with the Short-Term Plan (STP) and Long-Term Plan (LTP).
• Help create initiatives that attract foreign direct investment, promote business development and drive sustainable sector growth.
• Identify value creation opportunities and monitor strategic initiatives against approved STP and LTP objectives, using performance management frameworks, KPIs and periodic reporting.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders, and help review and update strategies as the regulatory and economic environment changes.
• Provide evidence-based strategic recommendations to the Chairman to support executive and operational decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Strategic Planning or a related field, or equivalent; a Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
• At least 9-11 years of experience in a relevant field related to setting and driving energy policies, strategies and plans.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Strategic planning concepts, institutional performance management tools and data analysis methods.
• Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and regulatory systems affecting the energy sector.
• Strategic analysis tools such as SWOT, PESTEL and risk analysis.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prepare data-driven reports.
