Trade Lane Development Manager

About the role

The Trade Lane Development Manager drives growth and development within specific trade lanes by building and managing strong relationships with carriers, partners and customers. The role identifies new business opportunities, optimizes trade lanes and works with internal teams to improve service offerings, cost efficiency and profitability within the freight department.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans to grow revenue in assigned trade lanes, and analyze market trends, customer needs and competitor activity to find new opportunities.
• Analyze trade lanes to optimize pricing, capacity and efficiency, and negotiate rates and services with carriers and partners.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, handling inquiries and issues to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Pursue new business and work with sales teams to promote trade lane services and meet revenue targets.
• Work with marketing to run promotional strategies and with finance and operations to track costs and revenue accurately.
• Monitor volume, revenue and profitability metrics, report regularly to management and recommend improvements.
• Evaluate expansion opportunities such as new routes, carriers or partnerships.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in trade lane management, freight forwarding or logistics, with a proven record in business development and relationship management.
• Strong understanding of global trade and logistics, especially within assigned trade lanes.
