Whole Engine Modelling Engineer II

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer II – Secondary Air Systems (SAS) & Whole Engine Modelling (WEM) will develop and support transient thermo‑mechanical models that capture full engine behaviour across mission cycles, aiding design decisions and durability assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 2D axisymmetric thermo‑mechanical models of gas turbine engines, translating 3D geometry into efficient 2D representations.
• Implement transient mission profiles (startup, acceleration, steady‑state, shutdown, cooldown) to predict temperatures, thermal gradients, growth, and rotor‑stator clearances.
• Develop 1D SAS network models for cooling flows, leakage paths, cavities and sealing systems, integrating them with WEM to capture convective heat transfer.
• Use and support simulation tools such as ANSYS, NX Thermal/Thermal Desktop, AxStream, and develop workflows with Python or MATLAB to automate model setup and mission profile implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4–7 years of experience in gas turbine thermal modelling and secondary air systems or whole engine modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with thermal/FEA tools and simulation workflow development.
