Assistant Resident Engineer – Electrical Substation (132 kV+)

About the role

The Assistant Resident Engineer – Electrical will support the Resident Engineer in overseeing the construction, installation, testing and commissioning of 132 kV and higher AIS/GIS substations. You will ensure that all works meet project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and schedule commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise erection and installation of transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, isolators, protection & control panels and SCADA equipment.
• Review contractor work against approved drawings, specifications and applicable IEC/IEEE standards.
• Support testing, commissioning and site acceptance tests, and verify HSE compliance on‑site.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress and quality, preparing inspection and progress reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, client representatives and project stakeholders to resolve technical and interface issues.
• Prepare punch lists, close‑out documentation and assist in reviewing submittals, method statements and inspection requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience on HV/EHV substation projects (132 kV and above).
• Hands‑on exposure to AIS/GIS substation construction, testing and commissioning.
• Membership in a professional engineering body is an advantage.
