Civil Inspector – Roads & Infrastructure

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Civil Inspector to oversee road, storm‑water and cycle‑track works in Abu Dhabi. The role involves continuous surveillance of construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and specifications. The inspector will act as the quality gate between the contractor and the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all road, storm‑water and cycle‑track works are performed in strict accordance with approved plans, specifications, ADM/DMT standards and active‑mobility guidelines.
• Supervise construction of cycle tracks and associated elements (pavement layers, asphalt, kerbs, segregation elements, signage, road markings, drainage, street furniture) to verify correct line, level, cross‑fall, width and safety requirements.
• Report any failure of the contractor to meet drawings, specifications or workmanship standards to the ARE or RE, including non‑conformance related to geometry, surface quality and user safety.
• Maintain a detailed daily diary of work activities, approvals, hours, labor and equipment used, and sign off as directed.
• Interface with the public, residents, businesses and road users to mitigate construction impacts and address access, safety and traffic‑management concerns.
• Coordinate daily with the contractor’s site engineers to advise on proper execution of road, drainage and cycle‑track works and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Collaborate with other discipline inspectors and arrange sampling and testing of completed works and materials (asphalt, concrete, aggregates).
• Liaise with surveyors to verify line and grade of completed road and cycle‑track works against design cross‑sections and levels.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil construction inspection, preferably on road, drainage and active‑mobility projects.
• Strong knowledge of local codes, standards and specifications, including ADM/DMT standards.
• Ability to produce accurate daily reports and maintain detailed records.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement and coordination with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
