Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Inpatient Services provides professional and operational nursing leadership across inpatient services, ensuring safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. The role works collaboratively with nursing, medical, allied health and operational teams to meet strategic, clinical, operational and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote evidence‑based nursing and midwifery practice in line with Dubai Health Authority and UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council standards.
• Support and champion King’s College Hospital’s mission, values and strategic objectives.
• Provide visible, compassionate leadership, mentorship and support to nursing and midwifery teams, fostering professional development and excellence in patient care.
• Offer professional advice, challenge where appropriate and nurture an open culture for raising and addressing concerns.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies, professional standards and strategic initiatives.
• Develop effective multidisciplinary relationships to improve patient pathways and outcomes.
• Deputise for the CNO and provide cross‑cover for senior nursing leadership as required.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Dubai Health Authority or UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Extensive senior nursing leadership experience in acute inpatient settings.
• Proven track record of delivering safe, evidence‑based patient care.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills with senior clinical and operational partners.
• Ability to influence strategic change and drive continuous improvement.
• Experience in policy development, multidisciplinary teamwork and operational performance management.
