Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer

About the role

Daikin Middle East & Africa is seeking a Senior Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer to lead the design of ammonia‑based refrigeration systems for large‑scale industrial applications. The role involves conceptualising, developing and optimising solutions that meet safety, efficiency and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial refrigeration systems, focusing on ammonia (NH3) cycles.
• Perform thermal load calculations, system sizing and select compressors, condensers, vessels, PHEs and other critical components.
• Create and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, layouts and technical drawings using CAD tools.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimise system efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, GCC and local refrigeration codes.
• Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers and site installation teams.
• Provide technical support during execution, troubleshooting and commissioning.
• Assist with cost estimation, material selection and vendor coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best‑practice design standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing industrial refrigeration systems, especially ammonia‑based applications.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and refrigeration cycles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with Revit.
