Project Engineering Manager – Tendering - Substation

About the role

The Project Engineering Manager will lead engineering activities for substation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The role focuses on tendering, schedule adherence, and delivering optimized solutions that maintain a positive margin.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Project Planning Manager to align deliveries with the project schedule.
• Conduct regular project review meetings to monitor progress and enforce schedule compliance.
• Lead internal reviews for resource optimization, allocation and productivity improvement.
• Review designs, calculations and drawings, securing timely customer approvals.
• Resolve vendor issues and ensure prompt delivery of materials to the site.
• Provide technical clarification to inter‑discipline managers on equipment design matters.
• Prepare accurate quantity estimations for Bill of Materials submissions.
• Develop optimisation and alternate proposals to accelerate delivery while preserving margin.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in primary and secondary engineering for GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
• Strong knowledge of equipment selection: power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers.
• Proficiency in substation primary and secondary design, including earthing, lighting, lightning protection, cabling, and interfaces with civil, MEP and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with secondary engineering deliverables such as schemes, wiring diagrams, SCADA and control systems.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
