Proposal Engineer – Fire Fighting Systems (Oil & Gas)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Proposal Engineer specializing in fire‑fighting systems for oil & gas projects. The role involves preparing technically accurate proposals and quotations for upstream, midstream and downstream facilities, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry codes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of proposals, tender submissions and cost estimates for fixed water/foam, deluge, sprinkler, foam monitor, hydrant and pump systems.
• Review tender documents, scope of work and specifications to identify risks, clarifications and assumptions, and produce compliant bid outlines.
• Develop equipment lists, BOMs and preliminary layouts in collaboration with design, engineering and procurement teams.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, fire‑water demand analysis, foam system sizing and pump selection according to relevant codes.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain technical data, quotations and lead‑time information, evaluating alternatives for cost optimisation.
• Prepare value‑engineering proposals and cost‑reduction options while maintaining safety and performance standards.
• Maintain version‑controlled proposal documentation and compile submission packs including drawings, datasheets and method statements.
• Support commercial negotiations by providing technical input on contract terms, scope clarifications and post‑tender queries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in proposal engineering, estimating or design of fire‑fighting systems for oil & gas, petrochemical or industrial projects.
• Proven ability to liaise with vendors, prepare technical enquiries and evaluate quotations.
• Familiarity with contract types, bid processes and project delivery models used in the oil & gas sector.

Required skills

• Hydraulic calculations and pump/nozzle selection.
• Foam system design and sizing methodologies.
• Knowledge of fire‑protection standards such as NFPA, LPCB and ISO.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with CAD tools or dedicated hydraulic calculation software.
