Senior Construction Supervisor (Instrumentation)

About the role

The Senior Construction Supervisor (Instrumentation) will lead all instrumentation construction activities on a major onshore EPC project in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the project management team, the role ensures safe, efficient installation, testing and pre‑commissioning of instrumentation systems for oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, hook‑up and testing of pressure, temperature, flow, level instruments, control valves, field junction boxes and analyzer systems.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, piping, civil and commissioning teams to keep work aligned with approved drawings and schedules.
• Manage calibration, loop‑checking, functional testing and support pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Enforce HSE policies, conduct toolbox talks, safety audits and intervene on unsafe conditions.
• Ensure quality compliance by overseeing inspections, NCRs, documentation and punch‑list closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• 10‑15 years of instrumentation construction experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery or LNG EPC projects, with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISA, IEC, NEC/NFPA and ATEX/IECEx standards.
• Instrument calibration procedures and loop‑checking techniques.
• Control system expertise (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and fire & gas detection systems.
• Ability to read P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, hook‑up drawings, wiring diagrams and cause‑effect diagrams.
• Proficiency with MS Office and construction/project management software.
