Senior Data Scientist – AI & Engineering Solutions

About the role

AI71 is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead the technical execution of high‑impact AI initiatives for the EDGE Group. You will transform unstructured regulatory and technical documentation into production‑grade AI systems that support advanced defence design, manufacturing and procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fine‑tune and deploy Large Language Models (LLMs) to interpret complex regulatory texts and extract structured compliance rules.
• Implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for accurate querying of technical documentation.
• Develop time‑series forecasting engines and classification models to predict spend, material demand and supplier risk.
• Build robust data extraction pipelines from Data Lakehouse, SAP S/4HANA, BIM/IFC models and external sources.
• Collaborate with back‑end engineers to orchestrate AI models into compliant and risk‑assessment engines accessible via APIs.
• Optimize model performance to ensure large‑scale checks execute within operational timeframes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI projects from research to production in complex, regulated environments.
• Strong ability to bridge unstructured data (text, documents) with structured engineering systems.
• Experience working within structured delivery frameworks such as Sprint‑Zero to Stage‑Gate.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with data engineers, domain experts and senior stakeholders.
