Senior Mobile Developer (IoT & React Native Specialist)

About the role

Flatgigs is looking for a Senior Mobile Developer to lead the development of its next-generation IoT ecosystem. You will design and build high-performance, cross-platform applications from the ground up, bridging physical hardware and digital user experiences with low-latency communication via BLE, Wi-Fi and MQTT. The role suits someone who enjoys solving complex hardware-software synchronization problems and building offline-first architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop and maintain React Native applications for iOS and Android, from concept to App Store and Play Store release.
• Implement and optimise communication between mobile devices and IoT hardware, including provisioning, pairing and real-time telemetry.
• Write custom native modules (Java/Kotlin/Swift/Objective-C) to access low-level hardware features.
• Build offline-first capabilities that keep data consistent when devices are disconnected from the cloud.
• Optimise battery and memory use, especially during continuous background scanning and data streaming.
• Implement end-to-end encryption for device-to-mobile and mobile-to-cloud communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional mobile development, with at least 2+ years on IoT-integrated products.
• Proven track record of shipping 2-3 production-grade IoT apps in stores.
• Strong grasp of concurrency, multi-threading and hardware latency issues.

Required skills

• React Native (Hooks, Context API, Fabric) and TypeScript/JavaScript, with Swift/Objective-C and Java/Kotlin.
• State management with Redux Toolkit, Zustand or MobX.
• BLE (react-native-ble-plx or react-native-ble-manager), MQTT, WebSockets and gRPC.
• Wi-Fi provisioning (SoftAP, SmartConfig) and NFC pairing.
• RESTful APIs and GraphQL; WatermelonDB, SQLite or Realm.
• CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, Bitrise or GitHub Actions).
• Bonus: AWS IoT Core or Google Cloud IoT, C/C++ or firmware, Matter or Thread.
