Senior Quality Inspector – Electrical Installation

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to lead electrical quality assurance activities on its Abu Dhabi projects. The role involves overseeing cable installation, testing, and sub‑station equipment inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cable glanding training and assess/approve glanding and termination personnel qualifications.
• Review and approve cable jointer/terminator qualification certificates.
• Inspect and test temporary electrical works and connections to camp facilities.
• Inspect installation of supports before cable tray installation.
• Inspect cable tray and conduit installation prior to cable laying release.
• Inspect underground stub‑ups and cable trench dimensions and sand bedding before laying.
• Monitor cable jointing/termination processes to ensure manufacturer recommendations are followed.
• Witness insulation resistance and continuity tests on drums, after laying, and after termination.
• Witness Hi‑pot testing of cables and final torque of cable terminations.
• Inspect installation of cable tray covers.
• Supervise sub‑station equipment installation to verify compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
• Monitor preservation activities of switchgear, transformers, bus ducts and other equipment.
• Inspect switchgear installation for alignment and location.
• Witness torque of bus‑bar joints, doctor tests, IR tests and Hi‑pot tests where applicable.
• Witness various electrical tests of switchgear, including IR, Hi‑pot, ductor, and operational tests.
• Witness transformer oil dielectric and IR tests.
• Witness various electrical tests as defined in applicable Inspection Test Plans (ITP).
