Senior Shari’a Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Shari’a Compliance Officer will ensure that all activities across the ADIB Group adhere to the standards and resolutions issued by the Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) and the Islamic Shari’a Supervisory Committee (ISSC), as well as the regulations of the Central Bank of the UAE. This position supports the management of new resolutions, conducts gap assessments, evaluates risks, and monitors corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the team leader in supervising the Shari’a compliance unit and its members.
• Record, translate, and disseminate new HSA and ISSC resolutions throughout the organization.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date database of resolutions using the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) system.
• Communicate resolutions to relevant departments and ensure proper implementation.
• Conduct comprehensive gap assessments, identify compliance obligations, and evaluate associated risks and controls.
• Recommend corrective actions for identified non‑compliance and monitor the execution of action plans.
• Provide regular status updates on obligations, action plans, and any emerging issues to the team leader.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in legal, compliance, or Shari’a advisory roles.
• Strong understanding of Islamic banking products and regulatory frameworks in the UAE.
• Fluent in both Arabic and English, with proven ability to translate complex regulatory texts.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑assessment skills.
