Senior Software Engineer – Search

About the role

Careem is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Search team in Dubai. You will help design and build the next‑generation search platform that powers multiple Careem verticals such as food, groceries and the Super App.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop highly scalable backend services in collaboration with cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Write, review and maintain performant, reliable code.
• Continuously improve service quality, reliability and engineering best‑practice patterns.
• Partner with Product Managers to refine functional specifications and become the domain expert.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide their technical growth.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and help evolve team processes.
• Contribute to the technical vision together with other engineering leaders.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience mentoring engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven experience designing large‑scale, distributed cloud applications.
• Hands‑on experience operating production systems with reliable deployment processes.
