Senior Specialist / Consultant – Stroke Medicine

About the role

A prestigious government healthcare facility in the UAE is seeking an experienced Senior Specialist / Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join its neurology and stroke care team. The role involves delivering expert clinical care for acute and chronic cerebrovascular conditions within a well‑established public health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat and follow‑up patients with acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders.
• Participate in rapid evaluation and management of patients eligible for acute stroke interventions.
• Develop individualized treatment and secondary prevention plans, including post‑stroke rehabilitation planning.
• Interpret neuroimaging and other diagnostic investigations to guide clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with neurologists, neuroradiologists, emergency physicians, intensivists, rehabilitation specialists and multidisciplinary stroke teams.
• Take part in stroke rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits and quality‑improvement programmes.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence‑based stroke care pathways and protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient records and provide teaching, supervision and mentorship to junior staff.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Neurology, Stroke Medicine, Internal Medicine or a related specialty.
• Significant post‑specialty clinical experience with extensive exposure to stroke medicine.
• Proven expertise in acute stroke assessment, management and secondary prevention.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary stroke or neurovascular environment.
