Specialist HSE Technical Engineer – Offshore Project

About the role

The Specialist HSE Technical Engineer will provide technical health, safety and environmental expertise during the Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of an offshore oil & gas project for KBR in Abu Dhabi, with later relocation to Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate HSE requirements into FEED deliverables and engineering designs.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with company, client and regulatory HSE standards.
• Apply Inherently Safer Design (ISD) and ALARP principles to layout safety, equipment spacing, escape routes and fire protection.
• Lead or support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, QRA and SIMOPS studies.
• Ensure regulatory and standards compliance (ADNOC, Aramco, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, API, NFPA, IEC, OSHA).
• Develop and review HSE engineering deliverables such as fire & gas detection layouts, EERA, ESD philosophies, hazardous area classification drawings, and safety‑critical equipment specifications.
• Identify environmental risks and propose mitigation measures, supporting Environmental Impact Assessments.

Required profile

• Experience in HSE engineering for offshore oil & gas projects, preferably during the FEED phase.
• Strong knowledge of international HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to conduct and document structured HSE risk studies.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
