Staff Nurse - Adult Medical Surgical Unit TP

About the role

The American Hospital in Dubai is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its Adult Medical Surgical Unit (TP). The role involves delivering age‑specific, patient‑centered care across medical and surgical cases, ensuring high‑quality clinical outcomes in line with hospital policies and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments using problem‑focused, age‑specific techniques.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate critical care pathways, prioritize interventions, and initiate appropriate transfer plans.
• Document all patient data accurately in the medical record and maintain required supplies and equipment.
• Administer narcotic/controlled drugs safely and complete related documentation.
• Participate in mandatory education, unit meetings, committees, and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) mandatory training such as fire safety and infection control.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current licensure to practice in the United Arab Emirates.
• Experience in adult medical‑surgical nursing, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Ability to assess and respond to both physical and psychological needs of patients and families.
• Strong communication skills to engage patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Commitment to maintaining clinical competency and adhering to hospital standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in handling and documenting narcotic/controlled drugs.
• Competence in pain management and emergency department device utilization.
• Ability to perform critical care nursing competencies and participate in CQI initiatives.
