Staff Nurse - Pediatric Urgent Care TP

About the role

Provides direct and indirect age‑specific care for patients in the Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic at American Hospital Dubai. The nurse is responsible for assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and coordination of care across the healthcare continuum, adhering to Joint Commission International standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive age‑specific patient assessments and continuously monitor physical and psychological needs.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop, revise and implement individualized care plans.
• Administer emergency care for suspected pediatric sepsis, calculate fluid requirements, give oral medications, and perform 12‑lead ECGs.
• Collect blood culture samples and ensure safe handling of narcotic and controlled substances.
• Document all patient data accurately, maintain supplies/equipment, and participate in unit meetings, CQI activities and mandatory education.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and registration as a Registered Nurse in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia; UAE nationals exempted from experience requirement.
• Minimum two years recent post‑graduate experience in Pediatric Urgent Care nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; BCLS, PALS required; ACLS to be obtained within six months of hire.
• Preferred certifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS).

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) – preferred.
• Performing 12‑lead ECGs on pediatric patients.
• Calculating pediatric fluid requirements.
• Collecting blood cultures and administering oral medications to infants and children.
• Providing emergency care for pediatric sepsis.
