About the role

American Gulf School is expanding its academic programmes and seeks an inspiring Academic Counsellor to support students, parents, and staff. The role focuses on fostering academic excellence and safeguarding the wellbeing of learners.

Key responsibilities

• Engage effectively with children, parents, and faculty to address academic and personal development needs.
• Provide guidance on curriculum choices, study strategies, and career pathways.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and intervene when necessary.
• Promote a safe and supportive learning environment in line with school safeguarding policies.
• Participate in school events, parent‑teacher meetings, and professional development sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably in an American or IB school.
• Teaching credential or license.
• Native‑like English proficiency (IELTS 8+).
• Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.

• Strong interpersonal communication with children, parents, and staff.
• Creative and innovative problem‑solving.
• Ability to manage confidential information and conduct background checks.
