Account Director - Tech & AI Communications

About the role

APCO is seeking an Account Director to lead strategic communications for a client in the Abu Dhabi government, with a focus on technology and artificial intelligence. The role suits someone who has a proven record executing communications strategies for tech-driven organizations, coordinating with multi-agency teams and driving impactful media engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute communications tailored to the tech and AI sectors, aligned with organizational goals
• Build relationships with local, regional and international tech-focused media outlets and manage media engagements
• Create white papers, opinion pieces and keynote speeches to position the organization as a thought leader in AI and tech
• Coordinate with external agencies such as tech PR, digital marketing and branding firms
• Oversee bilingual (English and Arabic) content for press releases, speeches and presentations
• Ensure the brand identity reflects leadership in tech and AI across all channels
• Lead crisis communication and monitor campaign performance with regular reports

Required profile

• 10+ years in a communications agency or in-house role focused on technology, AI or innovation-driven industries
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field; a master's or AI-related certification is a plus
• Strong understanding of the local and regional tech and AI landscape

Required skills

• Exceptional writing and storytelling, with expert command of grammar and AP style
• Proficiency in communication tools, media monitoring platforms and project management software
• Familiarity with AI tools for content creation and analytics is a plus
