Accountant (Engineering Practice)

About the role

An Accountant is needed in Abu Dhabi to handle general accounting operations and verify financial transactions. The role covers daily account verification, month-end closing and reporting, and requires strong analytical skills and knowledge of accounting principles.

Key responsibilities

• Daily verification, allocation, posting and reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable
• Prepare sales invoices and follow up on collections
• Review financial transactions and documents carefully
• Maintain a proper filing system for accounting documents
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual closing reports
• Cooperate with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Compute taxes, prepare VAT and income tax returns, and assist with tax audits and filings
• Produce error-free accounting reports and analyse financial information
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and IAS principles

Required profile

• Master's degree in Accounting and a certificate equalized by the Ministry of Education
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, with emphasis on UAE experience
• Proven experience as an accountant in an engineering practice is a must
• Knowledge of IAS and IFRS
• Strong written and spoken English; Arabic or another language is an advantage

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
• Hands-on experience with accounting software, especially Deltek ERP
• Relevant certifications such as ACCA, CMA or CPA are an added value
