AI Engineer (Applied)

About the role

BlackStone eIT is looking for a pragmatic AI Engineer to apply artificial intelligence techniques to real‑world problems and deliver solutions that create business value. You will work closely with product teams, data scientists and software engineers to move AI models into production and continuously improve them.

Key responsibilities

• Implement automated data classification and embed it into data pipelines.
• Build production‑grade operational AI agents on an agentic platform.
• Define data contracts for the platform in collaboration with the Principal AI Engineer.
• Develop FastAPI services around LLM APIs with versioned prompt templates.
• Ensure observability of every LLM call, including logging, latency and token usage.
• Design fallback logic for graceful degradation when LLM APIs are unavailable.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience applying AI/ML techniques in production.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.
• Ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams and translate business needs into AI applications.

Required skills

• Python programming (async API calls, retry logic, exponential back‑off).
• AI/ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn.
• LLM APIs (Claude, GPT‑4, open‑weight models) and prompt engineering.
• FastAPI, Docker, and JSON schema enforcement (Pydantic).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps practices.
