Air Traffic Control Assistant (ATCA)

About the role

The Air Traffic Control Assistant (ATCA) supports the Duty Air Traffic Control Officer in maintaining safe, efficient and continuous airport operations. Working in both the Briefing Room and the Control Tower, the ATCA ensures accurate aeronautical data, flight planning information and NOTAMs are processed in line with international civil aviation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, correct and disseminate flight plans and related messages using the CADAS system.
• Prepare and send NOTAMs on behalf of the Airport Authority via email and the AFTN.
• Monitor, code, decode and validate incoming and outgoing NOTAMs, maintaining check‑lists and records.
• Assist the Duty ATCO during emergencies, low‑visibility operations and routine traffic handling.
• Prepare flight progress strips, update flight plans and provide flight data to the ATCO.
• Liaise with Airport Operations, other air traffic units and emergency services regarding aircraft movements and clearances.
• Answer telephones and intercoms, process information promptly and keep legislative and internal documentation up to date.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Capability to work under pressure, especially during emergencies or low‑visibility conditions.
• Good communication skills for coordination with tower staff, airport agencies and external services.
• Willingness to follow operational procedures and maintain up‑to‑date documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Comsoft Solutions Aeronautical Data Access System (CADAS).
• Familiarity with the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).
• Experience in coding, decoding and handling NOTAMs.
