Art and Design Technology Teacher

About the role

Smart Vision School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Art and Design Technology Teacher to deliver high‑quality lessons across Primary and Secondary phases. The role offers the chance to shape the school’s emerging GCSE provision in Art and Design Technology.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Art lessons for Primary students.
• Teach Design Technology in Key Stage 2, covering specialisms such as Food Technology, Product Design or related areas.
• Instruct Art and Design Technology for Key Stage 3.
• Contribute to curriculum mapping, scheme of learning development and assessment strategies.
• Support the creation and maintenance of specialist Art and DT spaces, resources and equipment.
• Help establish an ambitious pathway toward GCSE Art and/or Design Technology.
• Promote creativity, craftsmanship and high‑quality outcomes through practical, technology‑enhanced projects.
• Ensure safe delivery of practical activities with appropriate risk assessments.
• Participate in exhibitions, competitions, enrichment activities and wider school events.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, B.Ed or equivalent).
• Relevant degree or strong subject background in Art, Design Technology or a related discipline.
• Experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology within a British‑curriculum setting.
• Ability to work confidently with students across Primary and Secondary age ranges.
• Strong understanding of classroom management, health and safety and safe use of specialist equipment.
• High expectations for the quality and presentation of students’ practical work.
• Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding principles.
