ASP Operator – Steel Production

About the role

The ASP Operator is responsible for running the Automated Steel Processing (ASP) line in a steel plant. You will ensure continuous, safe, and efficient production while monitoring equipment and process parameters.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the ASP system and associated processing equipment during shift hours.
• Monitor the ASP control panel/HMI, keeping all process parameters within defined limits.
• Adjust production activities according to SOPs, product change‑overs, and size changes.
• Track equipment status, alarms, interlocks, and respond to abnormal conditions.
• Coordinate with field operators, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and quality teams.
• Identify and report product quality issues, dimensional abnormalities, and material‑handling problems.
• Maintain accurate shift production records, logs, checklists, and hand‑over reports.
• Support preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, PPE, LOTO, work permits, and emergency protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in the steel industry, preferably in utility or water plant environments.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree.
• Ability to work shifts and follow standard operating procedures.
