Assistant Professor in Psychology

About the role

The School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is hiring a full-time Assistant Professor in Psychology. The successful candidate will combine scholarly and practical expertise and help grow the university's undergraduate BSc Psychology program. AURAK is an independent co-educational institution offering accredited American-style undergraduate and graduate programs, located in Ras Al Khaimah.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in at least three of the following areas: General Psychology, Brain and Behavior, Research Methods, Psychological Data Analysis, Learning and Memory, Child Development, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Psychopathology.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students on research, internships and career development.
• Contribute to curriculum design, program assessment and continuous improvement.
• Maintain an active research agenda and publish in peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals.
• Take part in departmental, school and university committees and service activities.
• Engage with the professional media community and support public and academic outreach.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Psychology, Clinical, Counseling, I-O, Organizational Behavior, Neuroscience and AI, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A strong record of scholarly publications commensurate with the academic rank sought.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses in at least three of the listed specialisation areas.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching, student engagement and curriculum innovation.
• Ability to integrate theoretical and practical perspectives in the classroom, and commitment to diversity, collaboration and interdisciplinary teaching.

Desirable: experience in American-model universities, a record of securing external research grants, and leadership experience at department, program or institutional level.
