Assistant Resident Engineer – Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support the Resident Engineer in overseeing construction activities for stormwater and sewage treatment plant projects in Dubai. The role involves supervising site inspections, reviewing technical submissions, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and local authority standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review Inspectors’ Daily Reports and prepare the Engineer’s Daily Diary.
• Provide oversight of daily inspector activities, assign tasks and give technical guidance.
• Review and approve contractor shop drawings, materials, methods and testing requests.
• Monitor contractor survey team performance and verify accuracy of setting‑out works.
• Coordinate with contractors on work sequence, methodology and schedule compliance.
• Conduct continuous field inspections and report technical, contractual and procedural matters to the Resident Engineer.
• Liaise with Dubai authorities (RTA, DM, DEWA, Etisalat, DU, Civil Defense) for inspections, NOCs and authority approvals.
• Maintain records of authority communications, approvals and correspondence for project handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in storm‑water and sewage treatment plant (STP) projects, including construction supervision, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Extensive UAE project experience with strong knowledge of local authority regulations, approval processes and standards for STP infrastructure.
• Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, consultants and authorities to deliver projects on time.

Required skills

• Construction supervision and site inspection for STP and storm‑water works.
• Review of shop drawings, material submittals and inspection/testing procedures.
• Preparation and verification of as‑built documentation.
• Knowledge of UAE codes, environmental regulations and HSE standards applicable to wastewater treatment facilities.
