Assistant Vice President - Internal Control & Accounting

About the role

A leading international bank with a strong presence across the Middle East is recruiting an Assistant Vice President for Internal Control and Accounting in Dubai. This is a technical finance role focused on internal controls, governance and accounting for treasury products, with exposure to hedge accounting, IFRS 9 and regional finance transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of the internal controls framework across the region
• Oversee accounting for treasury products, including FX and derivatives
• Manage hedge accounting processes and IFRS 9 implementation
• Ensure accuracy of general ledger entries and financial reporting
• Support regulatory and tax reporting across multiple entities
• Assist with audit processes and financial statement preparation
• Take part in new product reviews and assess their accounting implications
• Drive automation, process improvement and system enhancements

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience in financial control or product control within banking
• Knowledge of treasury products (FX, derivatives, hedge accounting)
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Required skills

• Strong understanding of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9
• Experience with financial systems such as Oracle GL is beneficial
