Associate Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Data Centres

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is hiring an Associate / Principal Electrical Design Engineer for data centres and mission-critical projects in Dubai. The role leads the multidisciplinary design, advisory and delivery of mission-critical data centre projects across the region, overseeing client engagement, project strategy, technical excellence and team leadership, while ensuring solutions meet global standards for resilience, sustainability and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration and delivery of electrical and MEP systems for mission-critical data centre projects.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables in line with global standards and client requirements.
• Drive development of modular, cloud, colocation and hyperscale data centre solutions.
• Act as primary client interface and build advisory relationships across key accounts.
• Lead technical workshops, design reviews and senior stakeholder presentations.
• Own project strategy from concept to execution and drive business development, including bid leadership and proposal strategy.
• Identify opportunities in digital infrastructure, hyperscale and cloud ecosystems and work with regional leadership to expand the service offering.
• Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams and oversee resource planning and capability development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in mission-critical/data centre design, delivery or advisory.
• Proven experience in GCC markets (UAE and/or KSA).
• Experience working with large consultancies or international engineering firms.
• Excellent leadership, communication and client-facing abilities.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Tier standards, NFPA, ASHRAE and Uptime Institute guidelines.
• Data centre electrical and MEP design and delivery.
