HSE Advisor - Health and Safety

About the role

Transguard Group is recruiting an Advisor - Health and Safety to join its Health and Safety team in Dubai. The advisor develops and implements the Health & Safety Management System at Transguard worksites and ensures compliance with international safety standards (ISO 45001 and 14001), working with the HSE Manager on guidelines for operations and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement organizational and client HSE policies and procedures in line with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and other applicable standards.
• Advise the business on health and safety matters and help implement the HSE management system.
• Carry out periodic safety inspections, identify hazards and ensure control measures are put in place.
• Manage and coordinate HSE matters for business units, including specifications, safety codes, legal requirements and company policies.
• Visit Transguard accommodations regularly and carry out building safety assessments.
• Coordinate risk and opportunity and environmental aspect assessments with business units, and work with client H&S representatives and attend client meetings.
• Deliver HSE awareness training and arrange job-specific training for operatives; verify the permit-to-work system and safe system of work.
• Prepare HSE documents for new sites before mobilization, maintain HSE data centrally, and conduct internal audits and attend external audits.
• Investigate incidents and non-compliance to find root causes, track records and documents, and identify patterns in lagging indicators.

Required profile

• 4-5 years of experience in a similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in science, HSE or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Recognized HSE qualification such as NEBOSH IGC or NVQ, and lead/internal auditor qualification in ISO 45001/14001.
• Basic first aid and fire fighting training; an internationally accredited environment certificate is preferable.
• Knowledge of UAE HSE legislation, codes of practice and municipality guidelines, and of ISO 45001 and 14001.
• Valid UAE driving licence.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of implementing HSE standards and policies, and of safety systems such as firefighting systems.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and good report writing.
• Good communication, teamwork, critical thinking, adaptability and strong decision-making.
