Associate - Roads and Highways

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is looking for an experienced Associate to join its Roads & Highways team in Dubai/Sharjah. The role sits at a senior technical level and leads the design delivery of complex roads and highways packages for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate. It suits someone with strong technical expertise, extensive experience on Dubai projects and a proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning and detailed design of roads and highways, including arterial roads, local roads, interchanges, junctions and access roads, in line with Dubai RTA standards, manuals, specifications and international best practice.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, drawings, reports and design calculations.
• Coordinate with utilities, drainage, traffic, structures, street lighting, landscaping and public realm, resolving technical conflicts so designs are buildable.
• Support project managers in meeting programme, quality and delivery milestones.
• Take part in technical meetings and design reviews with clients and Dubai authorities, support authority submissions and give clients advice on constructability and risk mitigation.
• Assist with resource planning, bid preparation, fee proposals and technical submissions, and help improve internal design processes.
• Mentor engineers and senior engineers within the Roads & Highways team and support knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 15+ years of professional experience in roads and highways design, with extensive experience on Dubai RTA infrastructure and land development projects; last 5 years preferably on Dubai projects.
• Strong understanding of Dubai authority standards, approval processes and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design teams and leading technical delivery packages with minimal supervision.
