Barista

About the role

InterContinental Residences Abu Dhabi is looking for a passionate, skilled and guest-focused Barista to join its Food & Beverage team. The role centres on preparing and serving high-quality hot and cold beverages to residents and guests, with a focus on personal service and consistency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based coffees, teas, specialty coffees and other drinks to established standards.
• Operate and maintain coffee machines, grinders and other beverage equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure consistency in quality, taste, temperature and presentation of every order.
• Welcome guests warmly, understand their preferences and make suitable beverage recommendations.
• Take and process orders accurately and on time.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the coffee station, counters, equipment and guest areas.
• Monitor stock levels of beans, milk, syrups and garnishes, report shortages and follow storage and rotation procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation and health and safety standards.
• Handle guest feedback and special requests professionally.
• Coordinate with the wider Food & Beverage team during busy periods and assist with opening and closing duties.
• Support beverage promotions and suggest new coffee creations and seasonal offerings.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar Food & Beverage role, preferably in a hotel, café or luxury hospitality setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable personality.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep quality consistent during busy periods.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Flexibility to work rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee brewing techniques and beverage presentation.
• Experience operating professional coffee machines and grinders is preferred.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and beverage handling procedures.
